"One of the best San Francisco hotels is the Prescott Hotel at 545 Post Street, between Taylor and Mason Streets and no more than two minutes' walk from Union Square. A small, stylish boutique hotel managed by Kimpton Hotels, one of a dozen such properties in San Francisco developed by the company since its founder, Bill Kimpton, abandoned Wall Street for the hotel and restaurant business in 1981.
The Prescott follows the company's usual formula of taking an old building and converting it into a small, elegant town-house-style hotel - perfect if you prefer to stay in a property where the staff not only recognize your face but remember your name and how you like your morning coffee. Stay here and you will be well advised to pay a little extra and book a room on one of the Club Level floors which come complete with complimentary continental breakfast, served in Postrio and a hosted evening cocktail and appetizer reception on the fourth-floor Club Level lounge.
