If there are beans around, we’re likely to spill them.

That’s especially when it comes to our, um, uncanny insider knowledge of the best places to shop, eat, play, lay low, and live large. They’re local secrets, but we’re pretty sure the natives will forgive us. In fact, our employees are thrilled to dish about their favorite places and answer questions. Looking for a farmer’s market where chefs shop? What about a park that’s great for people watching? Keep asking; we’ve got the answers, along with the scoop on dozens of destinations tailored to your interests.

Cool beans, right?

Our local SF Opera's presentation of Wagner's Ring Series recently garnered rave reviews and the upcoming season promises a mix of exciting offerings. Nearby Hayes Valley offers gourmet restaurants like Absinthe and Jardiniere for convenient pre- or post-show dining.

The Asian Art Museum is at home in San Francisco, where the influence of Asian culture is evident all around us. This spectacular museum houses artifacts and other objects of artistic and historical importance from all over Asia.  Visit the Jade Treasury room where the display of dramatically lit jade pieces surrounded by opulent blue walls will leave you breathless. Finish your day off by stopping by Café Asia on your way out for a green tea ice cream or warm bowl of miso soup.

The Contemporary Jewish Museum is conveniently located just a few blocks from Union Square. The outside has a contemporary look, and the inside is airy and welcoming. The museum is quite small but offers a good mix of art, theater, and music. Be sure to check out the largest exhibit that is devoted to Chagall and Russian Jewish Theater in the 1920's to 1940's.  It is an interesting collection of old theater posters, costumes, photos of actors, and sketches of costumes.  Across the street at Yerba Buena Gardens, Samovar tea house and B restaurant offer sustenance with views of the museum, park, and nearby St. Patrick’s church.

Just beyond the Contemporary Jewish Museum, SFMOMA is located a short walk from our property. The museum is famous for its architecture, unique gift shop, interesting exhibits and permanent collection. Art ranges from early 20th century paintings to photography, installation pieces, and stories-tall sculptures. Head to the roof where you will find an amazing sculpture garden complete with Blue Bottle coffee, one of the local brands that commands a cult following here in San Francisco!
